
A leading nationwide distribution company based in South Dublin now see a General Manager for their Home Delivery service with a major Supermarket chain. The General Manager of Home Deliveries will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of a large distribution company responsible for approximately 3000-4000 nationwide home deliveries daily, seven days a week.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maximize customer service by ensuring the highest levels of reliability and punctuality for its 350 drivers in 140 vehicles.
- Instil and reinforce a customer service culture within the team and the broader organization.
- Focus on driving operational efficiency improvements across the entire supply chain.
- Oversee resource planning and scheduling by the team of 8 planners.
- Manage and motivate the driver team, providing guidance and direction.
- Maximize driver and vehicle utilization while balancing operational efficiency, fleet maintenance and safety.
- Report and analyze key performance indicators and operational metrics,
- such as driver and vehicle utilization with a focus on maximizing profit.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels, managing and scheduling annual leave as needed for 10 support staff.
- Work with resource planners on resource management to handle seasonal demand spikes effectively.
- Handle HSA/regulatory and compliance matters, maintaining a high standard of safety.
- Ensure operations comply with all relevant regulations.
- Oversee fleet maintenance and replacement to minimize downtime and maximize return on investment.
- Oversee the insurance program related to transport, investigating incidents and implementing preventive procedures.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to prepare and manage budgets.
- Prepare for and manage potential seasonal demand spikes efficiently.
Core Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-volume multidrop transport/logistics management.
- Relevant degree or qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transport Manager CPC, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in resource planning and management.
- Strong IT knowledge, especially in Word and Excel.
- Ability to analyze demand trends and provide action plans.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and motivating personnel in a time-bound environment.
- Understanding of the overall business and strategic opportunities.
- Customer-centric mindset with cooperative and communicative problem-solving skills.
