Leading distribution company based in Dublin 24 area is seeking a Service Manager, to manage and report the maintenance activities and costs of a large fleet of vehicles and equipment. The role reports to the Head of Operations and is a projected salary of €50k. The job includes in-service training for relevant IT systems, and a responsibility to train new staff.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • CVR (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) legislation - Plan /Process /compliance in all aspects.
  • Assist in the development of vehicle and equipment maintenance policies and procedures for internal & external services that will guarantee the availability of a well maintained and serviced fleet.
  • Maintenance of 12-Month Maintenance Plan for full fleet.
  • Insurance Claims – processing and managing the process from start to finish – completing accident forms with Drivers, following up with Insurance provider, managing costs etc.
  • Maintenance Invoice processing.
  • Ensure all vehicles carry copies of log book insurance and any other info deemed necessary by the business.
  • Enforce Defect Systems & Processes – Driver Morion Metrics App – addressing daily reports in a prompt and timely manner, liaising with Drivers etc.
  • Monitor the Service Providers to ensure all vehicles are serviced, repaired and maintained in a timely and professional manner and that all legal requirements such as inspections, licences and insurances are acquired on time.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the work-load of in-house maintenance staff.
  • Point of contact for all audits for the above area.
  • KPI Reporting/Admin
  • Keeping all vehicle files up to date so that all correct paperwork recorded on files in conjunction with all legislative requirements. This entails ensuring that wall charts are kept up to date.
  • Ensuring suppliers issue relevant paperwork for any repairs completed and recording of same on Stratum and the vehicle files.
  • Running reports based on the Morion Metrics app and ensuring all notified faults and issues are addressed in a prompt and timely manner and recording of same on system when issue rectified. Liaising with Drivers where needs be.
  • Record all aspects of same, ensure up to date paper trail and that Stratum is fully utilized to record the above.

Core Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years recent experience in Transport Supervisory/Transport Management.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Transport or Vehicle service industry along with Irish CVR (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) legislation 
  • Ability to manage and control a large fleet of vehicles 
  • In depth geographical knowledge of Ireland
  • An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.
  • Flexible approach to working and willingness to rise to the daily challenges that occur.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure transport environment.
  • Positive can-do attitude, interpersonally effective with the ability to influence people positively.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
