Dublin 24-based freight forwarder now seeks a Freight Sales Executive with recent local market experience selling parcel, forward or logistics services. You will focus on developing new customer relationships and maintaining and growing customers according to company policies.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Play a leading role in the production of accurately costed solutions in accordance with company procedures and policies
- Develop the network, goals and objectives in line with sales strategy
- Increase market share in existing markets and maximize new business development opportunities
- Delivering sales by developing relationships with customers – new and existing
- Ensure that customers are satisfied with the service level and feedback to operations
- Identify business opportunities in target markets.
- Develop strategies and tactics to achieve the turnover and gross margin objectives set in your annual target.
- Ensure up-to-date reporting to the commercial team on pipeline activity and call report activity
- Propose to General Management corrective plans where necessary
- Develop relationships with potential customers, shipping and airlines with a view to creating and growing prospects, securing new work and gaining repeat business in freight forwarding
- Build relationships with importers and exporters
- Develop a robust understanding of the current ocean-going, air and road transport markets
- Develop an understanding of the customers’ buying strategy and approach, including why they buy ex-work, FOB, etc
- Represent the company, present proposals and lead project teams associated with business development
- Maintain a network of potential customer contracts
- Research, identify and develop good, close contacts with relevant decision makers in target companies capable of becoming freight forwarding accounts
- Develop a strong ‘pipeline’ of business opportunities and prospects
- Understand and work to margin expectations for this area of business and to complete quotations accordingly
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years recent sales experience selling parcel, freight forwarding or logistics solutions within the local market.
- Proven track record in winning business (strong closing experience).
- Experience in formulating innovative solutions incorporating accurately costed proposals
- Proficient prospecting and qualifying leads formulating proposals from enquiry to final presentations
- Excellent selling, representation and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Good presentation skills
- Strong process, project management and coordination abilities
- Self-disciplined approach in work
- Comfortable working as part of a team or on own initiative
- Comfortable operating at board level
- Takes ownership and initiative
- Has intrinsic focus and determination to convert opportunities into business wins
- Trained in sales techniques
- PC literate especially spreadsheets and presentation packages
- Fully fluent in the English language
- Full clean driving licence
