A large recognisable nationwide delivery brand now seeks an Operations Manager for their site in South Dublin. The company is long-established and in an exciting stage of transformational growth and development, that will see the company double in size over the next two years. The company currently service a niche market via its fleet of over 200 vehicles operating nationwide.

The Operations Manager is a key person in the team who is responsible for ensuring that the world-class clients’ service level of expectations is exceeded every day. This is achieved via good operational planning, professional management of drivers & others and good communication with all stakeholders. The key remit of this role is to deliver the agreed service levels via excellent all-around management skills. 

You will work in conjunction with an established team of Business Unit Operations Managers and report directly to the Chief Operations Officer. As the company embarks on a growth journey, your goal is to improve how the resources are managed and developed, retain client confidence and ensure credibility of service (we do what we say).

Key Responsibilities;

  • Ensuring the agreed operational processes and procedures are implemented locally
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular contact with key people within the client operation including weekly meetings.
  • Setting up regular performance reviews with clients (typically weekly) to review operational data; customer feedback; persistent challenges etc..
  • Organise, track, price and report on all additional work to ensure revenue is optimised.
  • Act as a client escalation point in the event of issues or problems.
  • Oversee the effective and professional management of all team members including weekly 1-1’s with Senior Drivers and Supervisors; regular catch-ups with drivers; early communication of rosters; disciplinary actions; performance management; accurate reporting of wages & holidays; training and refresher training; etc.
  • Managing the operation to agreed plans, budgets and KPIs.
  • Oversee the hiring and induction of new team members within the company guidelines.
  • Reporting on the performance of the operation via daily, weekly and monthly KPIs
  • Strong operational planning that focuses on both the current weeks and with a monthly, quarterly and annual view
  • Liaise with the Transport Manager to ensure that the fleet is always well-maintained and in good condition in coordination with their own garage and that fleet rotation initiatives are implemented.
  • Ensuring the effective use of technology (including e.g client scanners) by all employees under their control.
  • Ensuring the delivery of the weekly operations plan including routes; driver allocation; cover for absences; vehicle allocation; job allocation etc.
  • Managing the strong performance of drivers based on regular feedback.
  • Recognising strong performers and agreeing corrective actions with under-performers.
  • Ensuring the operational resources are always sufficient to deliver a high level of service without allowing reduced efficiency
  • Ensure all complaints, issues, failures are followed up rapidly, all the stakeholders are communicated and all details are documented.

  • Liaise with Operations Supervisors and Senior Drivers to ensure effective route planning.
  • Involvement in initiatives and projects that improve efficiency and/or level of service.
  • Acting as a positive role model to others.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions fully at meetings and other opportunities

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a management or supervisory role in a busy distribution environment.
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, or related field.
  • A high degree of initiative & enthusiasm
  • A strong interest in developing management capabilities and working on ad hoc projects.
  • Proactive and an proven ability to multitask
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Tech savvy and is computer literate

Terms: 
Full-time, permanent, site-based, normal business hours

Package: 
€50-80,000 + Bonus (salary will depend on ability as will the level of responsibilities assigned)
