Our client is seeking Transport Coordinator who will work closely with the Transport Manager as important members of the Planning Team. The primary responsibility of this role is to schedule a team of drivers and manage fleet movements. The job also entails anticipating an increase in staff and fleet numbers in line with planned phased growth and roll-out. The position is a rotational shift pattern on a 5 over 7 basis, with two shifts: AMs from 6:30 am to 3 pm and PMs from 2 pm to 10 pm.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct day-to-day planning and scheduling of home deliveries and daily stock movements to nominated depots across the ROI.
  • Ensure effective resource utilization in alignment with delivery requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Transport Manager and Operations Team to provide updates on service and scheduling issues.
  • Monitor delivery timings and driver locations to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Act as a point of contact for drivers on the road, addressing route, delivery, or customer issues.
  • Manage queries from grocery partners and respond promptly.
  • Coordinate with the Transport Manager and Maintenance team on off-road vehicles, ensuring accurate planning.
  • Adhere to budgetary guidelines for costs, including hours and agency expenses, as advised by the Transport Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers regarding working schedules and routes.
  • Ensure accuracy of driver clock information related to working hours on the Company Time and Attendance System, providing information to payroll.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer complaints, non-deliveries, or rescheduled deliveries.
  • Provide exemplary customer service, leading by example and communicating standards to the driver team.
  • Ensure compliance of driver hours with the Working Time Act, taking corrective action as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1-3 yrs exp. in transport planning or related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible working pattern.
  • Familiarity with logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, including the Working Time Act.
